An event for Farmers, Crofters and those in the Agricultural Industries.

On Nov 5th, arrive from 10.30am for a morning cuppa and introductions.

The event will commence at 11am, and include lunch, amongst three sessions:

Led by Bruce Wyper, Head stocksperson along with George Baikie, SRUC Farms Director, there is the opportunity to have an in-depth discussion of the beef suckler herd onsite. An open book tour of the farm looking and talking about the full breeding programme with the use of Artificial Insemination and sexed semen on farm. Further to this, learn the impact of changes made on farm in the management of the herd over the last several years to drive the herd on and what areas that have had the biggest improvements.

From SAC, Gavin Hill, Senior Beef Specialist will discuss the Beef industry focusing on the current trade along with short and long term thoughts. Discussion will also focus on what changes could be considered now to maximise profitability. Accompanying Gavin, Craig Bothwell, Area Manager, SAC Consulting will give an update on changes that are happening to the greening rules which will affect many, including a reminder of current funding for soil sampling for carbon audits and will share any new updates you need to be aware of when applying for subsidies in 2026.

Clare Dickson is the Community Engagement Specialist for Farmstrong Scotland and will MC the day at Easter Howgate. She will be hosting the session on Farmstrong, particularly looking at What is Farmstrong – what does it mean to you? A chance to familiarise yourself with our resources and look at your own wellbeing.

Lunch will be provided by Over Hot Coals, a favourite lunch team to have at Easter Howgate and you may have sampled their wares at other events including local shows over the summer season.

This event is the perfect chance for you to ‘get off farm’ or your place of work, to learn from others in the sector, both peers and experts in their field. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to connect with others and expand your industry knowledge, combined with how to stay well both personally and for that of your business.
