Island Digital Connectivity Resilience – SIF Meeting

Earlier this year Scottish Islands Federation (SIF) was asked to provide evidence to the Scottish Affairs Committee Digital Connectivity Enquiry – Call for evidence on Scottish Islands Digital Resilience – and many members supported this with feedback to the SIF member survey.
This year has also seen extended loss of connectivity in Orkney and Islay as a result of sub-sea cable damage and the purpose of the meeting is to share learning from the situation in Orkney, and what actions island communities are taking forward around resilience, an update from Tiree and discussion on what still needs to improve.
Priorities highlighted will then form the basis of contact with new Scottish Government cabinet and MSP’s and to help inform a further meeting with the Scottish and UK Governments.
