Launch Webinar: International Network for Public Restaurants

Launching a global network on public restaurants with speakers from around the world.

Date and time: to

Location: Online

Organisation: Nourish Scotland

Join Nourish Scotland for the launch of the International Network for Public Restaurants — a new global initiative to spotlight, exchange and mobilise around public restaurants as a model for universal food infrastructure.

This opening webinar will feature two speakers from pioneering public restaurant programmes:

Emanuelle Cardoso Zibral Santos, Director of Restaurantes Populares, City of Belo Horizonte, will share insights from Brazil’s long-running network of subsidised public restaurants serving millions of citizens.

Zelal Yalçın, Social Policy Advisor for Kent Lokantası, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, will speak about Istanbul’s recent and rapidly expanding public restaurant scheme.

Together we will reflect on what these programmes have achieved, what they’ve learned, and what it means to build a movement around this idea globally.

The webinar will also connect with emerging efforts in Dundee, Nottingham, the Netherlands and New York — and open up a conversation about how public restaurants can become a serious policy option for governments around the world.

This event is open to everyone. It is the first in a series of meetings that seeks to spotlight, exchange, learn and mobilise around public restaurants globally.
