“Rain, rain go away … come back another day”: Understanding Scotland’s changing relationships between climate change and mental health.

Climate change is amplifying environmental hazards, and with them, the psychological burden on individuals both directly and indirectly exposed to hydrological extremes. This presentation intends to outline a PhD research project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which seeks to explore the impacts of climate change, floods and droughts on community mental health in Wick, Caithness; Dumfries, Dumfries & Galloway; and Ayr, and the surrounding South East Ayrshire area. The presentation will summarise the literature and research methods which ground the project, as well as outline some initial research findings and potential policy implications of the research.

12 :20pm– Addressing Rural Health Inequalities, Rural Health Equity Project, Lesley McKee
