Join WDBP and the British Deer Veterinary Association (BDVA) for a new practical training day covering deer health and disease.

Understanding deer health and disease is an essential part of responsible deer management.

Delivered in collaboration with the British Deer Veterinary Association (BDVA), this Wild Deer Best Practice training day combines expert classroom tuition with practical demonstrations.

This FREE training day includes the following elements:

  • Notifiable diseases & non-notifiable diseases
  • Signs of ill health and/or injury
  • Aging & condition scoring
  • Parasites (inside and out)
  • Anatomy & Biology refresher
  • Carrying out carcass inspections
  • Lymph node identification
  • Signs of ‘good health’

The training day aims to help practitioners recognise the characteristics of a healthy deer, identify abnormalities that may indicate disease or injury, make informed decisions on whether a carcass is suitable for the human food chain, and understand the procudures for reporting suspected notifiable diseases.

The day includes a presentation and practical demonstration (postmortum) by qualified Vets who have extensive knowledge in deer health. There will be an opportunity for attendees to glove up and participate if they wish.
