Visitor guide – Scottish Smallholding & Countryside Festival

The 2026 festival is designed as an end-of-season celebration for everyone, from smallholders, farmers and crofters to families looking for a unique day out.

With the addition of the Lowland Hall, the event now offers more interactive and family-focused features than ever before:

  • Rural Traditions: Witness the heritage of Scotland through rural skills competitions, handcrafts, vintage tractors, rural traditions and displays of rare and minority breeds.
  • Hands-on Fun: A dedicated children’s countryside area and interactive “have a go” zones provide educational entertainment for younger visitors.
  • The Best of Scottish Food: Families can explore the small producer market or enjoy live demonstrations at the Scottish Food Guide Cookery Theatre with Wendy Barrie, as well as eat great street food.
  • Unique Animal Encounters: The festival remains the home of the only pig show in Scotland. Visitors can also get up close with sheep, goats, alpacas, poultry, and large cattle and equine showcases.

While the festival is growing, it remains unique in its 14-year commitment to small-scale farming and crofting. Supported by the Scottish Government, the event provides a vital platform for new entrants to agriculture and long-standing smallholders to share knowledge and gain inspiration.

Adult Tickets available now for the early bird price of £12 incl VAT

Please note the Festival will close at 4pm – last entrance through the gate will be 3pm. By purchasing a ticket you are agreeing to abide by the “entrance terms and conditions” available on this website.
