Angus Community Development Conference

Conference aims to build capacity, inform, inspire, and support community groups, charities and organisations across Angus.

Community groups charities and organisations across Angus are being invited to take part in this year’s Angus Community Development Conference on Wednesday 22 October, 9.30am to 4.00pm at Carnoustie Golf Hotel!

The conference’s aim is to build capacity, inform, inspire, and support the community groups, charities and organisations of Angus who aspire to deliver community led projects of all stages.

This can be from getting projects started and off the ground to taking ownership of land or buildings that will lead to transformational community driven initiatives.

The Development Trust Association of Scotland (DTAS) and Community Ownership Support Service (COSS) will be facilitating three of the workshops available, aimed at providing organisations with information on:

  • How Community Asset Transfer works – an overview of how your rights work in relation to requesting the right sort of lease, or ownership of a building or land.
  • Buildings Facilities Management, – an overview of what a community organisation should know when they take on the management of a community led building.
  • New Futures Programme-Former Places of Worship – The programme launched in direct response to the significant and unprecedented number of former places of worship that are due for disposal over the coming years. This workshop provides an insight into what the programme offers resources available and examples of Scotland wide projects.

The organisers are also reaching out to the congregations of Places of Worship throughout Angus that are due for disposal to join the event and find out more on the support that the Community Ownership Support Service and the Vibrant Communities, Community Development Team can provide to groups and organisations considering community ownership.

The event is supported by Angus Rural Partnership with funding from the Scottish Government’s Rural Community Led Local Development Fund 2025-2026., part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme.
