Applications Open for Argyll and Bute Events and Festivals Fund

Funding of up to 20% of event costs is available to help not-for-profit organisers grow festivals, attract visitors and support rural and island economies across Argyll and Bute.

A new funding opportunity has opened to help events and festivals across Argyll and Bute grow, strengthen their impact and deliver lasting benefits for local communities.

Applications are now being invited to Argyll and Bute Council’s Strategic Events and Festivals Fund (SEF), which supports not-for-profit organisations delivering events of strategic importance across the area.

The fund offers grants of up to 20% of total event costs, helping organisers enhance events, improve long-term sustainability and resilience, and maximise economic benefits for local communities.

Events and festivals play a significant role in supporting rural and island economies. They attract visitors, boost local businesses and provide opportunities to celebrate and share local culture, heritage and landscapes. From community-led festivals to larger destination events, these activities can help generate income, encourage tourism and strengthen community pride.

Councillor Jim Lynch, Leader of Argyll and Bute Council, highlighted the importance of the sector, noting that events and festivals help promote the area as a visitor destination while delivering economic benefits for communities. He encouraged eligible organisations to consider applying and make the most of the funding available to develop new ideas, expand their reach and improve long-term sustainability.

The funding opportunity could be particularly valuable for rural and island organisations looking to build on existing events or create new opportunities that attract visitors and support local economies. By investing in community events, organisers can help showcase the unique assets of their area while creating social and economic benefits that extend beyond the event itself.

Applications are now open, and eligible organisations can find out more and apply through the Argyll and Bute Council website.
