Applications are open now until 1 May 2026 for projects that improve and promote local parks and greenspaces.

Community and Friends groups across Scotland are being encouraged to apply for the Parks4Life Community Fund, which is now open for applications and offers small grants to help bring local parks and greenspaces to life.

Delivered by Greenspace Scotland in partnership with MyParkScotland, the fund provides grants of £500 to £1,500 to support projects that improve, promote or animate parks and greenspaces in local communities. The 2026 funding round opened on Wednesday 8 April and applications must be submitted by Friday 1 May 2026.

The fund is open to constituted community and Friends groups from across Scotland, including those working in rural and disadvantaged areas. Priority will be given to projects that encourage community involvement, increase use of parks, or help groups develop the skills and equipment needed to care for local greenspaces.

Funding can be used for a wide range of activities, including:

  • community events or gala days that encourage people to visit and use parks
  • volunteer training and skills development
  • practical improvements such as small planting schemes, tools or equipment
  • initiatives that help groups attract new members or volunteers

Applications from areas ranking high on the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) are particularly welcomed.

Parks4Life Community Fund is part of Scotland’s first dedicated funding programme for parks and greenspaces, created to support grassroots action and help communities safeguard these valued local assets for the future. In 2025, the fund supported 21 projects across Scotland, with organisers aiming to back even more groups this year.

Groups can apply for one grant per financial year, and projects must not have already taken place before funding is awarded. Full eligibility criteria, guidance and application details are available online.
