The consultation covers three applications and marks the first time CBD products in Scotland are being assessed through the full novel foods authorisation process.
FSS is inviting views from consumers, businesses, enforcement bodies and all stakeholders with an interest in CBD products, food safety and consumer protection. Feedback is being sought on a range of issues, including safety assessments, proposed terms of authorisation, labelling requirements, enforcement considerations and protections for vulnerable groups.
Responses to the consultation will be used to inform final recommendations to Scottish Ministers, who will decide whether each product can be authorised for the Scottish market.
FSS has described the consultation as an important step in shaping a safe, transparent and well‑regulated CBD food market in Scotland and is encouraging broad participation from across society.
