Funding Opportunity: Aviva Invites Community Organisations to Apply for 2026 Support

More than £2 million available this year to help small charities grow their impact through matched donations and core funding.

A major funding opportunity is open for community organisations across the UK, with the Aviva Foundation encouraging eligible groups to apply now for support through its Communities Fund. The programme offers up to £25,000 per year in match funding and aims to distribute more than £2 million annually to projects that strengthen financial wellbeing or drive climate action.

Community groups, charities and social enterprises are being urged to put forward their proposals as the Aviva Foundation’s Communities Fund opens for new applications. The fund is designed to help organisations create meaningful, lasting impact in their local areas—particularly in the fields of financial wellbeing and climate action.

What Funding Is Available?

  • Up to £25,000 per organisation per calendar year in match funding
  • Up to £250 matched per unique donation
  • Two applications allowed per year
  • Part of £2 million+ the Foundation aims to distribute annually

Funding is reviewed on a rolling basis, meaning organisations can apply as soon as they are ready—though Aviva notes that funding is limited and applications may close once the annual cap is reached.

Who Can Apply?

The fund is open to UK‑based organisations with an annual income of £1 million or less, including:

  • Charities
  • CIOs
  • CICs
  • Companies Limited by Guarantee

Applicants must be delivering work that supports:

  • Financial wellbeing (e.g., budgeting support, debt advice, financial education)
  • Climate action (e.g., nature restoration, green space access, sustainability skills)

Both core funding and project‑specific funding are available, depending on how closely an organisation’s mission aligns with these themes.

The Communities Fund has already helped organisations across the UK weather difficult periods, expand their services and reach more people. Many beneficiaries highlight the value of Aviva’s match‑funding model, which boosts local fundraising efforts and builds long‑term resilience.

Organisations are encouraged to:

  1. Review the Funding Guidelines on the Aviva Foundation website
  2. Prepare a clear proposal showing community impact
  3. Submit an application via the Communities Fund platform (administered by Crowdfunder UK)

With funding available throughout the year—but limited—early, well‑prepared applications stand the best chance of success.
