Have Your Say on Scotland’s Future Infrastructure

Scotland’s draft Infrastructure Strategy for 2027–2037 is now open for public consultation, and the Scottish Government is encouraging people, communities and organisations to share their views on how the nation should plan, invest in and deliver infrastructure over the next decade.

The Scottish Government has published its Draft Infrastructure Strategy 2027–2037, setting out a long‑term vision for how Scotland’s infrastructure should evolve to support net zero, inclusive economic growth, and resilient, sustainable places.

The consultation is now live, and everyone with an interest in Scotland’s future—residents, community groups, businesses, and public bodies—is invited to take part. consult.gov.scot

Infrastructure shapes daily life across Scotland, from transport and housing to digital connectivity, energy, health services and community facilities. The draft strategy outlines how Scotland can make better use of existing assets, embrace innovation, and ensure investment decisions deliver long‑term public value. It also highlights key challenges such as rising construction costs, ageing infrastructure, climate adaptation and demographic change. consult.gov.scot

Participants are asked for views on:

  • The scope and role of the new Infrastructure Strategy
  • How the proposed 10‑year framework links with Scotland’s 30‑year Needs Assessment
  • Ways to strengthen planning, governance and delivery
  • How infrastructure can better support net zero, economic growth and resilient communities
  • The role of public assets, place‑making, and private investment
  • How to ensure communities can play a more active role in decision‑making
  • Opportunities for strategic investment in areas such as housing, renewables and natural capital consult.gov.scot

Feedback gathered through this consultation will help shape the final Infrastructure Strategy, due for publication in late 2026. The strategy will guide future spending reviews and investment decisions, influencing how Scotland builds, maintains and adapts its infrastructure for years to come. consult.gov.scot

The consultation is open now, and responses can be submitted online through the Scottish Government’s Citizen Space platform.

Participants can save progress and return later, and organisations may provide additional context about their work when submitting. After the consultation closes, responses will be analysed and a summary report will be published. consult.gov.scot
