Inspirational community garden event launched

Moray Community Garden Festival will take place across the 6 - 7 June.

Communities across Moray are getting ready to open their gates for a weekend of inspiration, connection and practical climate action as the Moray Community Garden Festival taking place over the 6–7 June.

Organised by One Seed Forward, this event shines a spotlight on the vital role that local community gardens play in rural life — from supporting biodiversity to bringing people together.

🌼 A Celebration of Community and Climate Action

This festival is more than just a chance to admire beautiful growing spaces. It’s a real, on-the-ground example of what climate action looks like in rural communities:

  • Pollinator-friendly planting that supports bees, butterflies and other wildlife
  • Local food growing that reduces food miles and increases food security
  • Shared spaces that strengthen community ties and wellbeing

Across Moray, participating gardens are nurturing not just plants, but resilience — environmental, social and community-led.

🚶‍♀️ Step Inside Your Local Gardens

Each garden taking part will be opening its space for visitors to:

  • Have a look around at what’s being grown
  • Chat with local volunteers and growers
  • Pick up ideas for your own garden or growing space
  • Feel inspired to get involved in your community

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just curious, there’s something for everyone.

🌻 Why It Matters

Community gardens are increasingly important in rural areas. They:

  • Create welcoming places for people to gather
  • Support local food systems
  • Improve biodiversity
  • Encourage learning and skills-sharing across generations

In short, they are helping rural communities adapt, connect and thrive.
