Widely regarded as the pinnacle of Scotland’s agricultural showcase, the Royal Highland Show returns to the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 June. Each year, the event draws hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the country and beyond, reflecting its enduring importance to farming communities, rural businesses and the wider food and drink sector.
Across the four days, visitors can expect a packed programme featuring over 1,000 trade exhibitors, top-tier livestock competitions, family-friendly entertainment, and the latest in agricultural machinery and innovation. Yet, for many, it is the celebration of Scotland’s natural larder that remains a key highlight.
At the heart of this sits Scotland’s Larder – the show’s dedicated food and drink hall and consistently one of the busiest destinations on site. Bringing together producers from across Scotland and the wider UK, it offers a valuable platform for artisan businesses, many of them rooted in rural and island communities, to showcase their work to a broad audience.
Central to the experience is the Food for Thought Theatre. Here, some of the country’s leading chefs, food writers and producers take to the stage to demonstrate their craft, share insights into their work and discuss the evolving food landscape. Visitors are encouraged to engage directly, ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the skills and stories behind the produce on display.
For those with an interest in local food and drink, Scotland’s Larder continues to offer both inspiration and discovery. From farmhouse cheeses and traditionally cured charcuterie to island honeys, craft spirits, artisan baking and carefully crafted preserves, the hall reflects the remarkable diversity and quality of Scottish produce.

Importantly, the showcase also provides smaller-scale producers—often working in remote or island settings—with a rare opportunity to connect with new customers, retailers and collaborators. In this way, the Royal Highland Show continues to play a vital role not just in celebrating rural Scotland, but in supporting the sustainability and growth of its food and drink sector.
Whether attending for the livestock, the machinery or the food, Scotland’s Larder remains a must-visit destination—offering a taste of the land, sea and skill that define Scotland’s rich agricultural heritage.
