Transport Scotland’s SME Fleet Analysis Support Scheme is now open!

Heavy goods vehicles remain essential to the functioning of our economy, keeping supply chains moving and enabling businesses of all sizes to operate efficiently.

Transport Scotland’s SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprise) Fleet Analysis Support Scheme is now open, this scheme provides practical support to help small and medium-sized HGV operators prepare for the transition to zero-emission vehicles.

The scheme provides support to help Scottish SME HGV operators understand how zero emission vehicles could fit within their business. Working with an experienced delivery partner participating operators will receive tailored advice on:

▪️viable zero‑emission vehicle technologies;
▪️operational and routing considerations;
▪️charging or refuelling infrastructure and grid requirements;
▪️total cost of ownership and financing options; and
▪️short, medium and long-term transition planning.

To make participation as straight forward as possible, this year’s scheme has been designed to remove the administrative burden from HGV operators. The data consultant will handle the entire application process, undertake the required analysis, compile the final report, and manage the associated administration, allowing operators to focus on running their business

A list of approved data suppliers is available on the RHA (Road Haulage Association) website – UPDATED (September 2026) – Scotland: SME Fleet Analysis Support Scheme Returns

The scheme is open to 15th January 2027 for SME HGV operators based in Scotland with 100 or fewer HGVs. For further information and to apply, please see Transport Scotland’s dedicated webpage – SME Fleet Analysis Support Guidance | Transport Scotland
