Supported by £60 million in funding from UK Research and Innovation, the Adolescent Health Study aims to recruit 100,000 participants aged up to 18 years old and follow their experiences over at least a decade. Researchers hope the study will provide valuable insights into the factors shaping young people’s lives and health outcomes.
The Young People’s Advisory Group will consist of up to 12 members who will work directly with researchers, sharing their views on how the study should be designed and delivered. Organisers say involving young people in decision-making is essential to ensuring the research reflects the experiences and priorities of those it seeks to understand.
Members of the advisory group will take part in monthly online meetings and may also be invited to attend in-person events and engagement activities. Alongside contributing to the research, participants will have opportunities to develop new skills, meet other young people, and gain experience in collaborative working. Advisory group members will also be paid for their time and involvement.
YouthLink Scotland is encouraging organisations, youth workers and communities to share the opportunity with eligible young people who may be interested in making their voices heard and helping shape the future of adolescent health research.
Applications for the Young People’s Advisory Group are open until 30 August, with support available for anyone who requires assistance completing the application process or accessing information in alternative formats.
