YouthLink Scotland is calling on youth workers, schools and community groups to take part in Your Vote Week 2026, a nationwide initiative running from 9–15 March aimed at helping young people understand democracy, voting and the impact their voice can have.

Led annually by the Electoral Commission, Your Vote Week provides free, impartial resources to support democratic education. This year’s theme, “Why Voting Matters,” focuses on helping young people explore how political decisions shape everyday life and why taking part in elections is important. Activities and materials are designed for use in classrooms, youth groups and community settings, encouraging conversations about registering to vote, understanding elections and building confidence to participate.

YouthLink Scotland is encouraging organisations across the country to get involved by running sessions, sharing resources and supporting young people to develop the knowledge and skills they need to engage in democracy. The initiative comes at a key moment, with young people aged 16 and over eligible to vote in Scottish Parliament elections.

Your Vote Week also offers downloadable lesson plans, short activities, posters and social media graphics to help educators and youth workers deliver engaging sessions. The aim is to make democratic learning accessible, relevant and empowering for young people across Scotland.
