The event will build on ongoing European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) thematic work on  ‘Resource Efficiency’, including aspects such as water use efficiency, soil and nutrient management, and soil conservation and carbon sequestration. Discussions will address the key factors for promoting an efficient resource use and management through the RDPs, as well as the implications for Rural Development policy design and delivery. 

The participants will discuss the key factors enabling the effective pursuit of the resource efficient use and management of water and soil through the Rural Development Programmes and the implications for the European Union rural development policy design and delivery to 2020 and beyond.

The day will include a mix of presentations, discussions, workshops and practical examples from the public and private sectors. These are basd on the learning and good practices highlighted by the ENRD Thematic Group.

The event will be relevant to representatives of a broad range of organisations including Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies, National Rural Networks, Rural Networks' Assembly, LEADER groups, advisors, research organisations and other European organisations.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French and German in the plenary sessions.

There are no participant fees for the event, however delegates will need to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements for this event and there will be no reimbursement of expenses. Coffee and lunch will be provided.
